Thank you to those Members who took the time to either email questions or join the February 25 Member Town Hall about our ongoing facility improvement projects. We have created a set of frequently asked questions and answers for your reference. You can also refer to our past Member Messages from September 5 and September 17, 2025, and February 1, 2026, for more background information.
Q: With the delay in the bathhouse renovation until fall 2026, will Members be refunded the $250 assessment fee? Can the amount be credited to offset Member dues?
A: No. The $250 assessment cannot be refunded, nor can it be credited to offset dues. We have used the money collected through the assessment to fundpre-construction activities, such as obtaining architectural and engineering drawings and applying for the permit. Despite the bathhouse renovation delay, we will use the money to fund critical repairs – for example, our contractor will soon begin the needed electrical upgrade work outside the bathhouse – and other projects, including addressing electrical issues for the snack bar and various foundational issues outside the bathhouse.. The money collected in dues, meanwhile, is the required amount to cover our operating expenses for the 2026 season.
Q: How does the delay impact our loan for the facility improvement projects?
A: By using the assessment fees to fund pre-construction activities and critical repairs, we are able to delay drawing on the loan until we start the bathhouse renovation in the fall. Since we won’t be paying interest or having to service the loan this summer, we are able to keep this year’s dues lower than we initially anticipated.
Q: Do we even need to do this work on the bathhouse?
A: Yes. Our aging bathhouse is in need of many electrical and plumbing upgrades. The vast majority of the construction budget will address these issues. Based on Member feedback, we have taken advantage of this opportunity to include a much desired facelift for the bathhouse as well. We expect the completed bathhouse will greatly improve the member experience and upgrade our infrastructure for future generations of Members.
Q: Did the Board consider adding solar panels to the roof of the bathhouse?
A: The Board previously researched solar panel installation on our various buildings but found any benefit would be outweighed by the costs. As our electricity needs are limited to three months of the year, it would take many summers to recoup the investment. That being said, since we will be replacing the bathhouse roof, the Board is willing to revisit this option.
